Disability Insurance
What would you do if you couldn’t work?
How far could you go without a paycheck?
Disability insurance provides a source of income to people who cannot work due to an accident or illness. Unfortunately, this scenario can happen to you. The Social Security Administration estimates one in four 20-year-olds will experience a disability for 90 days or more before they reach 67*.
There are two main types of disability insurance, which replace a portion of your monthly base salary up to a cap during a disability.
Short-Term Disability Insurance: STD is for temporary disabilities and is designed to replace 60-80% of your income for a short, typically for a 3-6 month period.
Long-Term Disability Insurance: LTD is designed to last for many years if needed – replacing 50-67% of your income for an individual policy and about 40-60% under long-term group disability if something happens and you can no longer work.
